You will then continue to the city center to see the Monument to the German Settlers, located near the Main Square and Cathedral, while learning about the region’s architectural heritage and the cultural influence of German immigration in southern Chile.

The journey continues north to the picturesque town of Puerto Varas, often referred to as the “City of Roses.” Here, you will visit its main attractions, including the iconic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the historic residential neighborhoods reflecting the town’s German-inspired architecture.

Today you will join a shared full-day excursion to explore the northern part of Chiloé Island, known for its unique culture, wildlife, and coastal scenery.

The journey begins with a drive south toward Pargua, where you will board a ferry to cross the Chacao Channel, which separates mainland Chile from Chiloé Island. Upon arrival in the village of Chacao, you will notice the distinctive wooden houses built from native alerce wood, as well as historic churches that form part of the region’s rich cultural heritage.

The excursion continues along the coast toward Caulín Bay, an area famous for its oysters and abundant marine life. The peaceful landscape and wetlands make this an excellent spot to appreciate the island’s natural beauty.

Later, you will travel to Puñihuil Beach, where you will board a small boat to visit the nearby islets that host colonies of both Magellanic and Humboldt penguins. This is one of the very few places in the world where these two species coexist and nest together. The boat excursion offers excellent opportunities to observe penguins as well as other marine birds and wildlife.

The tour continues to the city of Ancud, one of Chiloé’s most important towns. Here, you will visit Fort San Antonio, stroll around the Main Square, and explore the Central Market, where local crafts and regional products are displayed.
